5% GST tax break
The federal government is giving a 5% GST tax break. However, it is not on all items. You can see the list here.
What we find there is this:
Children's toys are eligible if they are designed to be used by children under 14 for educational or recreational purposes. Most toys marketed as being intended for ages under 14 (for example, a toy recommended for ages 8 and up) are eligible.
Eligible children’s toys include:
· Games, including:
o Board games with physical components and rules, including replacement pieces and additional components such as dice
o Card games, including playing cards and Pokémon cards
· Toys, toy sets and toy systems that:
o Have the appearance of a person or thing, whether real or imaginary
o Involve building, creating or assembling structures, objects or models using parts, pieces, materials or modeling materials
o Involve sorting, stacking or arranging parts, pieces or materials
· Dolls, plush toys and their accessories
These items are not eligible:
· Collectibles that are not intended for educational or recreational purposes, such as hockey cards or collectible dolls
· Toys and model sets that are marketed to adults (for example, Lego or model train sets for adults)
So these are toys for 14 years and under and possibly dolls...as long as they are not collectible dolls!
So because it is confusing and up to interpretation, Imagination Hobby has decided to give you the 5% discount but we will pay the 5% to the government. So they will not be able to argue this is applicable but not that! And you will benefit from the discount.
You will have a 5% discount on your order at checkout and you will see the 5% amount for GST that will be on your invoice. The 5% discount will cancel the GST 5%.
This excludes pre-orders, layaways and consignment items.
This offer is applicable from December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025
